Tom Lawrence named Executive Director

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL (December 18, 2009) –Tom Lawrence, current Director of Programming at The First Tee of St. Johns County, has been named Executive Director of the Chapter by the Board of Directors effective January 1, 2010. 

The former Executive Director, Jay Jennison, had resigned due to health issues.

Chip Trefry, incoming Board Chairman and chapter President, said today: "Tom will be an outstanding Executive Director for the chapter.  He has been with us since 2007, and is well familiar with its operations. I know of no one better with the kids or a more enthusiastic proponent of The First Tee and its mission."

Tom is a 2008 Flagler College graduate of its nationally recognized Sports Management program.  He joined us as a volunteer in February, 2007, became a paid intern in April, 2007, and Program Director in June, 2007.  He recently completed his MBA in Non-Profit Organization and Leadership at Springfield College in Tampa, FL - requiring him to spend one very long weekend a month there for the last 18 months.  He is a hard working and motivated young man.

About Us
The mission of The First Tee of St. Johns County is to impact the lives of young people by providing an affordable and accessible facility where they can learn to play golf and learn the valuable life skills associated with the game. The Chapter occupies a three-hole facility and clubhouse off SR 207 just west of
I-95.   It is open seven days a week for play. Through its junior membership, after-school, and special event programming, the St. Johns Chapter provides instruction and playing time for over 500 St. Johns County children, ages 6-17.
