The First Tee Masters kick started the Summer Tournament Series of 2010 with 3 age groups and three fantastic rounds of golf at the First Tee golf course in Elkton Florida. With a total of twenty five young players leading the field including past champions Noah Church (Elkton, Florida) (2009 First Tee Masters) Sol Lee (Seoul, Korea) (2008 First Tee Women’s Open) with the 5-7 years-old group leading the way with a total of 9 players, followed by the 8-12 years-old age group featuring 11 players, and last the 13-18 age group featuring 8 young golfers, all with promising futures in the game of golf. The turnout for the 5-7 age group was amazing, having 9 young golfers show up to play the six hole course. It was Henry Gratton (Ponte Vedra, Florida) who would win The First Tee Masters, putting on the green jacket and taking home the trophy shooting only two over par with a round total of 22. Tate Underberg (Palm Coast, Florida) came in second place shooting a round of 32, having missed a birdie and par opportunity on the last three holes of the tournament which would have put him close to Gratton, but not close enough to win The First Tee Masters. 2009 First Tee Masters winner Noah Church (Elkton, Florida) finished only one shot behind Underberg, with a round of 33. Will Gratton (Ponte Vedra, Florida) took home the trophy and green jacket for The First Tee Masters 8-12 age group, shooting 5 over par with a total round of 34, shooting par on the first two holes, sixth hole, and a birdie on the last hole to beat out Isaac Bell (St. Augustine, Florida), who shot a 35 for the round. The two battled it out throughout the tournament, but it was Gratton who edged over Bell on the last hole shooting a birdie to put him one shot under Bell and making Gratton the 2010 First Tee Masters Champion. The 13-18 age group featured a group of young well-rounded golfers, Spencer Schindler (St. Augustine, Florida), a young golfer on the Pedro Menendez High School golf team and Brandon Allen (St. Augustine, Florida) on the St. Joseph Academy golf team, as well as, past tournament winner Sol Lee (Seoul, Korea) (2008 Women’s First Tee Open) who shot a 37, finishing in third place and Jacob Baldwin (Palm Coast, Florida) finishing in fourth shooting a round of 39. Schindler and Allen, who would battle it out on the course, shooting par on a majority of the holes and bogeying one hole, leaving the two in a tie of at the end of the round with a 29 and a sudden death playoff. Schindler and Allen would play two playoff holes at the end, both shooting par on the first playoff hole, but it was Schindler who made a costly mistake on the second playoff hole, hitting his ball into the right bunker on the third hole short Par 3, Allen hitting his ball 5 feet away from the hole. Schindler would hit a nice bunker shot 6 feet away from the hole with a chance to save par, but missed his par putt to finish the last hole with a bogey. Allen would go on to miss his birdie putt, but would finish with a par putt, to beat out Schindler to win The First Tee Masters in the 13-18 years-old age group.
