Underberg, Bell and Schindler are winners at The First Tee Open
Tate Underberg (Palm Coast, Florida) took home The First Tee Open Saturday morning, leading the small group of four with a total round of 29. On the last hole par-3, Underberg drove his tee shot into the far right bunker, leaving him with a tough lie. Underberg redeemed himself, hitting a nice shot from the bunker 4 feet away from the hole. Eli Bibler (Jacksonville, Florida) finished in second place to Underberg, shooting a round of 33. Bibler had a rough start on the first two holes, shooting a 5 on the first hole and an 8 on the second hole, but would redeem himself on the next four holes shooting consistent numbers with sixes on the third and fourth hole and fours on the fifth and sixth holes. Maverick Strot (St. Augustine, FL) almost holed out on the 5th hole hitting the hole but rolling over. This was Tate’s last tournament at the 5-7 year old age division as he turned 8 yesterday and now will be joining the 8-12 year olds.
The 8-12 year-old division was filled with a strong field of 11 players, but it was Isaac Bell (St. Augustine, Florida) who would take home the trophy for the annual First Tee Open shooting a total round 34 to win the division. Bell birdied the sixth-hole par 3, and shot par on the final 3-holes in the summer tournament to beat out the field. Logan Milller (St. Augustine, Florida) finished second in The First Tee Open, losing by one shot to Bell, shooting a total round of 35. Miller shot a consistent round, shooting pars on the second, fourth, fifth, and eighth hole.
Spencer Schindler (St. Augustine, Florida) stole the show with his long drives off the tee box to win The First Tee Open in the 13-18 year-old division. Schindler started out rough bogeying the first hole par 4, but would shot par on the next seven holes, and a birdie on the last hole par-3 to beat out the field. Gabriel Bell (St. Augustine, Florida) finished in second place, shooting a total round 33. The Bogey on the fourth hole would take Bell out of contention for first place against Schindler, who has been playing strong golf lately. Bell would shoot par on his final five holes to finish in second place.
